Hi, I'm Ronan Nicholson!
I’m a 16-year-old birder currently living near Asheville, North Carolina. My birding started when I found a California Scrub-Jay in my yard when I was nine.
I got my first scholarship to a bird camp a few years later at eleven years old. For that one, I spent a week birding the Sierra Nevada mountains. In the successive years, I attended camps in the Rocky Mountains in Colorado, the ocean on the coast of Delaware, and Edward’s Platau in Texas this last summer.
Between those, I got into bird photography and illustration and was the ABA’s Young Birder of the Year for 2019. I sometimes author articles about birds.
In the Fall of 2020, I moved from Sacramento, California where I had lived for my whole birding life to western North Carolina, and am enjoying the different ecosystems in the southern Appalachians.
